Jenifer Constantine

founder

I grew up in a small town in the Adirondacks, upstate New York. My father worked at a paper mill and later decided to follow his passion and become a full-time antique dealer. When he quit the mill to pursue this dream, he made a risky choice to choose a path that he had carved for himself and by himself. This shift was a formative experience for me, teaching the importance of pursuing one's dreams whilst simultaneously giving me a deep understanding of antiques, collectibles, and the growth of product design through the eras.

With my undergraduate degree, I graduated with honors in English Literature and Art History, working as an art gallery curator right out of college. Seeking a more creative outlet, and deeply enamored with the mid-century furniture designers, I pursued a master's degree in industrial design at Pratt Institute. Here I learned technical skills and the fundamental principles of design. This education taught me that design is about learning how to think creatively and within a wide range of design constraints.

After graduate school, I moved to the Hudson Valley of New York, where I channeled my creativity into owning a restaurant. I managed every aspect, from kitchen operations to graphic design, creating a beloved social environment that was featured twice in The New York Times. Design never left me though: I designed food for the menus and designed a small commercial kitchen for maximum efficiency.

When the restaurant closed, I took a job with a high-end kitchen showroom and later as a project specialist at a box store, gaining a comprehensive understanding of various kitchen and bath installations. When my position was eliminated by the corporation nationwide, I founded Jenovate to bring an indistrial designer's touch to the renovation process, focusing on thoughtful, detailed planning to create custom spaces.

I believe that everyone deserves to live in a space that reflects their personal style and meets their unique needs, and I'm passionate about making this a reality through the power of design.
